What you need to know
If your current vehicle is older than 3 years, then by law, you are required to have an MOT test at least once every 12 months. We do this so that your vehicle meets and hopefully exceeds the minimum safety requirement.
Don't get roped into paying more than the maximum MOT test fees www.gov.uk
Our VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) appointed person(s) performs the MOT, adhering to the rigorous system in which vehicular safety is checked. This encompasses all aspects of the vehicle, the interior and exterior, under the chassis and under the bonnet in order to gauge how road safe your vehicle is. This concludes with the vehicle owner receiving one of two certificates, a VT20 or a VT30. A VT20 certificate is a pass. A VT30 is a failure. If you receive a VT30 you have until your current MOT runs out to make the necessary repairs at which point another MOT is conducted.
Legal repurcussions
It is worth noting that if you do receive a VT30, legally you are not entitled to continue driving this vehicle, as is known to be defective, which is against the law and if stopped by the police you could be prosecued. Once these repairs are fixed you can continue driving your car until your MOT expires or you book for a retest.
We must advise you to remember that your vehicle registration document is a requirement, as is relevant payment at the time of the MOT. Failure to do so may result in no MOT test and/or rescheduling a new time.
